Queen Wilhelmina State Park

It's been a while since it's been 60 degrees in the morning.  We had planned on leaving an hour earlier, but it was even cooler then. Instead we left out about 9:00 a.m. and decided we'd get some breakfast first. By the time we finished eating the temperature was in the 70's which made it perfect riding weather. With our gas tanks and our bellies full, we pulled out of the Waffle House parking lot and headed towards Mena, Arkansas.

Our second stop was the Exxon in Mt. Ida, Arkansas. My ol' man and I were talking today about how you can ride for miles not saying a word to each other, but know exactly what each other is thinking by just a few hand signals.  He compared it to the game where you whisper something into someone's ear and they whisper what they think they heard to the next person and so it goes until you get to the last person.  Normally it's nothing like what was first said.  In our case, it's a little different. The person says/signals something and the next person adds to it.  It started with the guy behind me riding up beside me and grabbing his throat and then acting like he's drinking something.  I rubbed my butt and pointed forward to my husband in front of me.  He rode up beside my husband rubbed his butt, acted like he was drinking and pointed to the bike in front of him.  My husband pulled up to the lead bike, rubbed his butt, acted like he was drinking, and then acted like he was smoking a cigarette.  He got the thumbs up and we stopped at the next gas station.

After reading Dave's guidelines on pee, I don't think I'll ever be able to stop again without looking at the color of my pee. I would have found out what color my husband's pee was too, but I didn't think about it until I was already in the bathroom.  So I grabbed a Mt. Dew and a Lifewater, paid for our drinks and our gas and headed out the door for a smoke.

We made it to Mena, Arkansas and gassed up before we hit the Talimena Scenic Drive.  The whole trail is 54 miles long and goes into Oklahoma.  We only rode about 15 miles of it, but it was a gorgeous ride.  One of these days we're going to go back and ride the whole thing.

Along the trail there are several "vistas" to stop at to take in the view.

  3. Same thing happens to me - went on a road that was 10 miles from home that was great and I never knew about it. You folks in Arkansas have some great riding roads.
